Instructions:

  1. Begin by setting aside 8 chocolate wafers and about 12 of the best-looking mandarin orange segments for garnish.

  2. In a large bowl, combine the sweetened condensed milk, water, and instant chocolate pudding mix. Beat the mixture well until smooth and creamy.

  3. Refrigerate the pudding mixture for about 20 minutes until it thickens slightly.

  4. While the pudding chills, whip the cream until stiff peaks form. Then, gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate pudding mixture, leaving some white streaks for a beautiful marbled effect.

  5. Now, it’s time to assemble the pudding layers. Begin by spreading 1/2 cup of the chocolate mixture in the bottom of a 2.5L (2 1/2 quart) glass serving bowl.

  6. Drizzle the chocolate layer with 1/4 of the chocolate syrup for added richness.

  7. Next, layer on 8 chocolate wafers followed by 1/3 of the mandarin orange segments and 1/3 of the remaining chocolate mixture.

  8. Repeat the layers – chocolate sauce, wafers, oranges, and chocolate mixture – two more times, finishing with a drizzle of the remaining 1/4 of the chocolate syrup.

  9. For the final decorative touch, arrange the set aside chocolate wafers and mandarin orange segments in a pleasing pattern on top of the pudding.

  10. Cover the pudding with plastic wrap and refrigerate it until thoroughly chilled, allowing all the flavors to meld together into a decadent treat.

Notes:

  • This creamy chocolate mandarin pudding is a delightful twist on a classic dessert, offering a burst of citrusy freshness amidst rich chocolate goodness.
  • Feel free to customize this recipe by adding your favorite toppings or swapping out the mandarin oranges for other fruits like strawberries or raspberries.
  • For an extra indulgent experience, serve the pudding with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of chocolate shavings on top. Enjoy!
