Ingredients:
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 cup sugar (for cinnamon-sugar mixture)
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions:
-
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 8″x4″x2″ loaf pans (or five 5″x2 1/2″ mini loaf pans).
-
Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.
-
In a separate bowl, combine oil and sugar. Add buttermilk and eggs, mixing well.
-
Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just moistened. Be careful not to overmix.
-
Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pans, filling them about 1/3 full.
-
In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and the remaining 1 cup of sugar. Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter in the pans.
-
Layer the remaining batter over the cinnamon-sugar layer in the pans. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.
-
Use a knife to swirl the batter gently, creating a marbled effect. Sprinkle chopped walnuts evenly over the top.
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
-
Allow the loaves to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
This delightful Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread is best enjoyed fresh, but it also freezes well for future enjoyment. Serve slices toasted with a spread of butter or cream cheese for a delicious treat any time of day!
