Quick Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread Recipe

🕒 Total Time: 1 hour

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 45 minutes

🥖 Yield: 2 loaves

Description:

This quick and easy bread recipe is perfect for sharing with friends or for events like church bazaars. You can also make mini loaves to freeze for later. It’s a delightful treat for breakfast, brunch, or as a sweet snack.

Ingredients:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar (for cinnamon-sugar mixture)
  • 1 cup chopped walnuts

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 8″x4″x2″ loaf pans (or five 5″x2 1/2″ mini loaf pans).

  2. Mix flour, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl until well combined.

  3. In a separate bowl, combine oil and sugar. Add buttermilk and eggs, mixing well.

  4. Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until just moistened. Be careful not to overmix.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pans, filling them about 1/3 full.

  6. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and the remaining 1 cup of sugar. Sprinkle half of this mixture over the batter in the pans.

  7. Layer the remaining batter over the cinnamon-sugar layer in the pans. Sprinkle the remaining cinnamon-sugar mixture on top.

  8. Use a knife to swirl the batter gently, creating a marbled effect. Sprinkle chopped walnuts evenly over the top.

  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-55 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  10. Allow the loaves to cool in the pans for about 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

This delightful Buttermilk Cinnamon Bread is best enjoyed fresh, but it also freezes well for future enjoyment. Serve slices toasted with a spread of butter or cream cheese for a delicious treat any time of day!
