  1. Prepare the Potatoes: Begin by peeling the potatoes, ensuring to remove any skin. Once peeled, slice the potatoes into thin rounds using a mandoline slicer. Set the slices aside.

  2. Preheat and Prepare the Dish: Place a large, oven-safe skillet on the stove over moderate heat. Once hot, add a little butter to grease the pan.

  3. Layer the Potatoes: Lay the first layer of potato slices at the bottom of the skillet. Make sure they overlap slightly to form a neat, even layer.

  4. Season and Butter: Melt 50g of the butter and drizzle it over the first layer of potatoes. Season generously with salt and freshly ground black pepper.

  5. Build the Layers: Continue layering the potatoes, seasoning each layer with salt, pepper, and a drizzle of the melted butter. Repeat this process until all the potato slices are used, finishing with the butter on top.

  6. Cooking: Once all layers are in place, turn off the heat on the stove. Transfer the skillet into a preheated oven set to 200°C (static) or 180°C (fan-forced). Bake for 30 minutes if using a static oven, or 20 minutes if using a fan-forced oven.

  7. Crisp the Top: After baking, switch to the grill function for the last 3 minutes, or until the top of the Pommes Anna is beautifully golden and crispy.

  8. Serve: Once cooked, remove the skillet from the oven. Allow it to rest for a minute, then carefully invert the Pommes Anna onto a serving plate. Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy!
