Telur Dadar Kornet: A Savory Indonesian Egg Dish

Ingredients:

  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 can of corned beef (Pronas or your preferred brand)
  • 2 shallots, thinly sliced
  • 1 scallion, thinly sliced
  • 3 bird’s eye chilies (optional, for added heat)
  • 1/2 packet of Royco chicken seasoning
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • A small amount of oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Egg Mixture: In a large bowl, crack the eggs and whisk them thoroughly. Add the sliced shallots, scallions, bird’s eye chilies (if using), corned beef, Royco chicken seasoning, and salt. Mix well until the corned beef is evenly distributed and the egg mixture is frothy.

  2. Heat the Pan: Place a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add a small amount of oil. Allow the oil to heat up until it shimmers, ensuring that the pan is sufficiently hot to help the omelet puff up.

  3. Cook the Omelet: Pour the egg mixture into the hot skillet. Let it cook undisturbed until the edges start to set and the bottom is golden brown. This may take a few minutes. Gently lift the edges of the omelet with a spatula to check for doneness. Once the omelet is partially cooked but still slightly runny on top, carefully flip it to cook the other side.

  4. Finish Cooking: Cook the omelet on the second side until it is fully set and golden brown. Remove from the skillet and transfer to a cutting board.

  5. Serve: Cut the omelet into slices or pieces. It can be enjoyed as a snack on its own or served as a side dish with steamed rice.

Enjoy this delightful Telur Dadar Kornet, a flavorful and versatile dish perfect for any meal of the day!
