This wonderful recipe is a slightly modified version from another recipe site to better fit my tastes. The rich and creamy sauce is perfect served over pasta or dirty rice. Ideal for dinner parties or potlucks, it serves a crowd, but can easily be scaled down for a family meal.

Instructions 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

  1. Heat the Skillet 🔥
Begin by heating a large skillet over medium-high heat.

  2. Melt the Butter 🧈
Add the butter to the skillet and allow it to melt completely.

  3. Sauté the Vegetables 🥦🧅🌶️
Toss in the diced onions, green bell pepper, celery, garlic, and dried basil. Sauté until the onions turn transparent but are not browned.

  4. Add the Sausages 🌭
Stir in the sliced andouille and smoked sausages. Continue sautéing until the sausages are browned to your liking.

  5. Cook the Tomatoes 🍅
Add the diced tomatoes to the skillet and cook for about 5 minutes or until they become soft and release their juices.

  6. Deglaze with Beer 🍺
Pour in the beer and water. Allow the mixture to boil, reducing it by about one-third to one-half.

  7. Add the Cream and Seasonings 🧂🥛
Pour in the heavy cream and add the salt and Cajun seasonings. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.

  8. Cook the Shrimp 🦐
Gently stir in the shrimp and cook until they turn pink, which should take about 3-5 minutes.

  9. Thicken the Sauce 🍲
Allow the sauce to thicken naturally. If you find the sauce too thin, dissolve about a teaspoon of flour or cornstarch in 1/4 cup of water and add it to the sauce. Stir frequently to avoid lumps and ensure a smooth consistency.

  10. Serve and Enjoy 🍽️
This delectable sauce is perfect over your favorite rice or pasta. Serve hot and enjoy the rich, creamy flavors with a hint of Cajun spice.

Tips and Variations:

  • Vegetarian Option: Substitute shrimp and sausage with tofu and a variety of mushrooms for a vegetarian twist.
  • Spicy Twist: Add a pinch of cayenne pepper or a dash of hot sauce for an extra kick.
  • Garnish: Sprinkle some freshly chopped parsley or green onions on top before serving for a burst of freshness.

This Cajun Shrimp and Andouille in Cream Sauce recipe is sure to be a hit at your next gathering or a comforting meal for your family. The combination of shrimp, sausages, and creamy sauce with the vibrant flavors of Cajun seasoning creates a dish that is rich, satisfying, and bursting with taste. 🌟🍤🌶️
