Prepare the potatoes: Peel and chop the potatoes into small cubes, similar in size to the pumpkin pieces.

Steam the vegetables: Place the pumpkin and potato cubes in a steamer basket. Set the basket over a pot of boiling water and cover with a lid. Allow the vegetables to steam for approximately 40 minutes. To ensure they are cooked through, use a fork to check their tenderness.

Mash the vegetables: Once the pumpkin and potatoes are soft, transfer them to a potato masher and mash until smooth and creamy.
