Instructions:

In a large skillet, melt 1/4 cup of butter over medium heat.

Add in the sliced mushrooms, chopped onion, minced garlic, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper.

Sautรฉ the mixture until the vegetables are just tender, then remove them from the skillet and set aside.

Drain all but 2 tablespoons of the remaining butter from the skillet.

Lightly coat the beef with 2 tablespoons of flour, 1/2 teaspoon of salt, and 1/2 teaspoon of pepper.

Sear the beef strips over high heat in the skillet until they are just browned on the outside. This should take only a few minutes.

Once the beef is browned, remove it from the skillet and set it aside with the cooked mushrooms and onions.

In the same skillet, add 2 more tablespoons of butter to the pan drippings.

Stir in the remaining 4 tablespoons of flour, tomato paste, and condensed beef broth.

Cook the mixture, whisking frequently, until it becomes smooth and thickened. This should take about 6-8 minutes.
