Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. Coat the pork chops (or chicken) with flour: Season the flour with salt and pepper, then place it in a plastic bag. Add the pork chops (or chicken pieces) to the bag and shake until they are evenly coated with flour.

  3. Brown the chops: Melt half of the butter in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Add the coated chops and brown them on both sides. Once browned, remove the chops from the pan and keep them warm.

  4. Saute the aromatics: Add the remaining butter to the frying pan. Saute the chopped onions and minced garlic for a few minutes until they become translucent and fragrant. Then, add the sliced mushrooms and diced celery, and cook for another minute until the mushrooms start to release their juices.

  5. Prepare the sauce: Pour in the can of cream of mushroom soup and stir well to combine with the vegetables. Gradually add the milk, stirring continuously, until everything is well mixed and the sauce is smooth.

  6. Assemble the dish: Spread a thin layer of the soup mixture in the bottom of an ovenproof dish. Arrange the browned chops (or chicken pieces) on top, and then pour the remaining soup mixture over them. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the top, and lay slices of cheddar cheese on top for an extra gooey finish.

  7. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil to seal in the moisture, and bake in the preheated oven for 30 to 40 minutes, or until the meat is cooked through and tender. The exact cooking time will depend on the thickness of your meat.

  8. Serve: Once cooked, remove the dish from the oven and sprinkle freshly chopped parsley over the top for a burst of color and freshness. Serve hot, and enjoy the creamy, cheesy goodness of your souped-up pork chops (or chicken)!

This recipe yields a hearty and satisfying meal that’s sure to please your family or guests. With its simple preparation and rich flavors, it’s bound to become a favorite in your weeknight dinner rotation. So gather your ingredients and get ready to elevate your pork chops (or chicken) to a whole new level of deliciousness!
