Instructions

Prepare the Béchamel Sauce:
To begin making the Mushrooms on Toast, we will first prepare the white sauce (béchamel). In a pan, melt butter over medium heat. Once melted, add all-purpose flour (maida) and stir continuously. Gradually pour in the milk while continuing to stir. Cook until the mixture thickens. Once it reaches the desired consistency, add salt and black pepper powder to taste. Stir well and then remove from heat. Set the sauce aside. -
Cooking the Mushrooms:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. While the oven is heating, heat oil in a pan and add chopped onions. Sauté the onions until they become soft and translucent. Once the onions are soft, add the mushrooms, black pepper powder, and salt. Stir the mixture well, keeping in mind that we have already added salt and pepper in the sauce, so adjust the seasoning accordingly. Cook until the mushrooms become soft and release their moisture. Turn off the heat and mix the mushroom mixture with the prepared béchamel sauce. -
Assemble the Toast:
Take slices of bread and spread butter on one side of each slice. On top of the buttered side, place a generous amount of the mushroom and sauce mixture. Grate cheese over the mushrooms. Place the assembled toast on a baking sheet. -
Baking:
Place the baking sheet with the prepared toasts into the preheated oven and bake for 5 minutes or until the cheese is melted and slightly golden. Once done, remove from the oven. -
Serving:
Serve the Mushrooms on Toast hot, paired with fresh fruits and a cold coffee for a delightful breakfast or snack.
Enjoy this creamy, cheesy delight as a quick snack for any occasion!
