Ayam Bugolgi Recipe

Indulge in the vibrant flavors of Ayam Bugolgi, a delicious twist on a classic Korean-inspired dish that brings together tender chicken with a savory, spicy sauce. This recipe is perfect for those seeking a unique and satisfying meal that combines the crispiness of fried chicken with the rich flavors of a robust sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 kg chicken, cut into pieces
  • 1 package Sajiku flour (or any all-purpose flour)
  • Juice of 1 lime (to remove the gamey smell of the chicken)
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 onion
  • Salt, to taste
  • Granulated sugar, to taste
  • Tomato ketchup, to taste
  • Chili sauce, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Cooking oil

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Start by thoroughly washing the chicken pieces. Squeeze the juice of one lime over the chicken to eliminate any residual gamey odor. Let it sit for a few minutes, then rinse and pat dry.
    • Cut the chicken into bite-sized pieces.
  2. Coat and Fry the Chicken:

    • Pour the Sajiku flour into a shallow dish. Dredge the chicken pieces in the flour, ensuring each piece is well-coated.
    • Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the flour-coated chicken pieces until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from the pan and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Sauce:

    • Finely chop the garlic and onion. Combine black pepper, salt, and garlic in a mortar and pestle or a food processor to create a seasoning paste.
    • Heat a small amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until it becomes translucent and fragrant.
    • Add the garlic paste to the pan and continue to cook until aromatic.
    • Stir in the tomato ketchup and chili sauce. Adjust the sweetness with granulated sugar to your taste. Let the sauce simmer until it begins to thicken.
  4. Combine Chicken and Sauce:

    • Add the fried chicken pieces to the pan with the sauce. Stir to coat the chicken evenly with the sauce.
    • Allow the chicken to simmer in the sauce for a few minutes, ensuring the flavors meld together and the chicken is heated through.
  5. Serve:

    • Once the chicken is well-coated and the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove from heat.
    • Serve the Ayam Bugolgi hot, garnished with fresh herbs if desired, and enjoy the delightful blend of flavors!

This recipe offers a delightful fusion of textures and tastes, making it a perfect addition to your meal rotation. Serve with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes for a complete dining experience. Enjoy! 😊😘😍
