Beef Kroket Recipe
Ingredients:
- 500 grams steamed potatoes, mashed
- 150 grams minced beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 packets powdered milk
- 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 2 tablespoons sweet soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon mushroom seasoning (as a substitute for MSG)
- Salt, sugar, and pepper to taste
- 250 ml water
- 250 grams breadcrumbs
- 200 grams all-purpose flour
- 2 beaten eggs
- Oil for frying
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Beef Filling:
- Heat a pan over medium heat and add a little oil. Sauté the chopped onion until fragrant.
- Add the minced beef and cook until browned.
- Season the mixture with salt, sugar, pepper, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and sweet soy sauce. Stir well.
- Pour in the water and let it simmer until the liquid reduces and the mixture thickens. Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed.
-
Prepare the Potato Mixture:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the mashed potatoes with powdered milk and 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour. Add a pinch of salt and sugar.
- Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well combined.
-
Combine and Shape:
- Incorporate the beef filling into the potato mixture. Mix until evenly distributed.
- Shape the mixture into small, oval-shaped croquettes.
-
Coat the Croquettes:
- Prepare a breading station with three bowls: one with all-purpose flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs.
- Dredge each croquette in the flour, dip into the beaten eggs, and then coat with breadcrumbs. For a thicker, crispier coating, repeat the coating process.
-
Chill and Fry:
- Place the breaded croquettes on a tray or plate and cover with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up.
- Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pan over medium heat.
- Fry the croquettes in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per batch.
-
Serve:
- Drain the fried croquettes on paper towels to remove excess oil.
- Serve hot and enjoy!
Tips:
- For an extra crispy texture, ensure that the oil is sufficiently hot before frying.
- You can freeze the uncooked croquettes for later use. Just fry them straight from the freezer, adding a minute or two to the cooking time.
Enjoy your homemade Beef Kroket, and may your culinary journey be filled with delightful flavors!
