Sempol Sapi: Savory Beef Skewers
Ingredients:
- 200 grams all-purpose flour
- 50 grams additional all-purpose flour
- 300 grams beef (ground)
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic
- 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
- Salt, to taste
- Finely chopped green onions (as needed)
For Coating:
- 2 eggs, beaten
- Salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Mixture: Begin by finely grinding the garlic cloves. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground garlic with the egg and mix until well blended. Gradually add the all-purpose flour, beef, and seasonings, including ground black pepper and salt. Stir the mixture thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. Fold in the finely chopped green onions for added flavor and texture.
-
Shape and Boil: Bring a pot of water to a rolling boil. Meanwhile, shape the mixture into small, elongated patties or balls, and thread them onto wooden skewers (sate sticks). Carefully place the skewers into the boiling water and cook until the sempol is fully cooked and firm, approximately 10-15 minutes. Once done, remove them from the water and let them drain and cool on a paper towel.
-
Coat and Fry: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Dip each cooked skewer into the beaten eggs, ensuring an even coating. Season the coating with a pinch of salt and ground black pepper, as desired. Gently place the coated sempol into the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
-
Serve: Once the sempol are golden and crispy, remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot and enjoy these delicious beef skewers as an appetizer or snack.
