Beer-Battered Fried Shrimp Recipe ๐Ÿค๐Ÿบ

Overview:

Preparation Time: 20 minutes
Cooking Time: 5 minutes
Total Time: 25 minutes
Servings: 4

Description:

Mmmmm…comfort food! These beer-battered fried shrimp can be an appetizer or main dish, depending on what you pair them with. There never seems to be enough because even the most hard-core seafood haters (like me…) seem to love shrimp! Go figure! For the best taste, try to get your shrimp (or any seafood, for that matter) at a fish marketโ€”the freshness and non-“fishy” taste are worth the price.

Ingredients:

Ingredients Quantity
Large shrimp 2
Flour 1/4 cup
Beer 3/4 cup
Egg 1
Sugar 1 tbsp
Salt 1/2 tsp
Peanut oil (for frying) As needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Shrimp:

    • Start by butterfly-cutting the cleaned shrimp to make them look larger.
    • Hold each shrimp so that the underside is facing up.
    • Slice down its length, almost to the vein, to form the butterfly shape.
    • Spread and flatten to create the butterfly shape.
  2. Make the Batter:

    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour, beer, egg, sugar, and salt.
    • Mix until you have a smooth and thick batter.
  3. Heat the Oil:

    • Pour peanut oil into a deep fryer or a deep, heavy-bottomed pot.
    • Heat the oil to 375ยฐF (190ยฐC). You’ll need enough oil to submerge the shrimp.
  4. Coat and Fry the Shrimp:

    • Dip each shrimp into the batter, ensuring it’s fully coated.
    • Carefully place the battered shrimp into the hot oil, one by one.
    • Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding, which can lower the oil temperature.
    • Fry until the shrimp are golden brown and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch.
  5. Drain and Serve:

    • Once fried, remove the shrimp using a slotted spoon or tongs.
    • Place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
    • Serve the beer-battered fried shrimp hot and crispy.

Notes:

  • Freshness Matters: For the best flavor, try to use fresh shrimp from a fish market.
  • Beer Choice: Use your favorite beer for the batter. It adds a delightful flavor!
  • Serve with: These shrimp are fantastic on their own or with a dipping sauce of your choice.
  • Crispy Perfection: To keep the shrimp crispy, serve immediately after frying.

Enjoy this delicious beer-battered fried shrimp recipe as an appetizer, main dish, or even as a snack! ๐Ÿค๐Ÿบโœจ
