Chicken Katsu with Savory Sauce

Ingredients:

  • For the Chicken Katsu:

    • 250 grams chicken fillet
    • 1 packet Kobe crispy flour (approximately 100 grams)
    • 100 grams breadcrumbs
    • 1 packet Ladaku seasoning (optional, for added flavor)
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 egg
    • Oil for frying
  • For the Sauce:

    • 1 onion
    • 2 sachets Saori oyster sauce
    • 1 tablespoon sweet soy sauce
    • 1 tablespoon chili sauce (adjust to taste)
    • 1 tablespoon sugar (to taste)
    • Salt and pepper (to taste)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken Fillets:

    • Rinse the chicken fillets thoroughly and pat them dry with paper towels.
    • Season the fillets with 1 teaspoon of black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon of salt. Allow them to marinate for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
  2. Bread the Chicken:

    • Set up a breading station by placing the crispy flour, beaten egg, and breadcrumbs in separate shallow dishes.
    • Dredge each chicken fillet in the crispy flour, making sure it’s evenly coated. Dip it into the beaten egg, then coat it with breadcrumbs, pressing down gently to ensure a good coating.
  3. Fry the Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the breaded chicken fillets until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.
  4. Prepare the Sauce:

    • Finely chop the onion. In a saucepan, heat a small amount of oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until it becomes fragrant and translucent.
    • Add the Saori oyster sauce, sweet soy sauce, and chili sauce to the pan. Stir well to combine the flavors.
    • Season the sauce with salt, pepper, and sugar to taste. Adjust the seasoning as needed to suit your preference.
  5. Serve:

    • Slice the crispy chicken katsu into strips and serve it with steamed rice. Drizzle the savory sauce over the chicken and enjoy a delicious and satisfying meal.

Tip: For an extra touch of authenticity, serve with a side of shredded cabbage and a wedge of lemon for a classic Japanese katsu experience.

Enjoy your homemade Chicken Katsu with a delectable sauce, a perfect blend of crispy, savory, and sweet flavors!
