Chicken Katsu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 kg chicken fillets
  • 2 cm fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 egg
  • 100 grams breadcrumbs
  • Cooking oil, for frying
  • Toppings: Sweet soy sauce, tomato sauce, or chili sauce

Instructions:

  1. Preparation: For convenience, you can stock up on cleaned chicken fillets in the freezer. When you’re ready to cook, remove the chicken from the freezer and let it thaw until it’s pliable.

  2. Marinate the Chicken: Grate the ginger and finely mince the garlic. Rub these seasonings all over the chicken fillets, ensuring they are well-coated. Gently massage the spices into the chicken to allow the flavors to infuse. Let the chicken marinate for at least 30 minutes to enhance the taste.

  3. Bread the Chicken: In a separate bowl, crack the egg and whisk it until well combined. Dip each piece of marinated chicken into the egg mixture, ensuring it is fully coated. Then, roll the chicken fillets in the breadcrumbs, pressing gently to help the coating adhere.

  4. Fry the Chicken: Heat cooking oil in a pan over low heat. Carefully place the breaded chicken fillets in the hot oil. Fry them slowly, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through. Continue this process until all the chicken is fried.

  5. Serve: Once the chicken is crispy and golden, remove it from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve the chicken katsu with your choice of toppings, such as sweet soy sauce, tomato sauce, or chili sauce, for a delicious and satisfying meal.

Enjoy your homemade chicken katsu, perfect for a tasty and comforting dinner!
