Nugget Ayam & Homemade Tomato Sauce

Ingredients

For the Nuggets:

  • 250 grams chicken fillet, coarsely chopped
  • 1 egg
  • 1 packet tofu, finely chopped
  • Grated carrot, to taste
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • Finely chopped celery, to taste
  • Grated cheese, to taste
  • Salt, to taste

For the Coating:

  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Bread crumbs, as needed

For the Tomato Sauce:

  • 1 ripe tomato, finely chopped
  • Water, as needed
  • Salt, to taste

Instructions

Preparing the Nuggets:

  1. In a blender, combine the coarsely chopped chicken fillet, egg, and salt. Blend until smooth.
  2. Transfer the chicken mixture to a bowl and add the finely chopped tofu, grated carrot, minced garlic, cornstarch, finely chopped celery, grated cheese, and additional salt if needed. Mix well until all ingredients are thoroughly combined.
  3. Prepare a steamer and lightly grease a baking pan with a little oil.
  4. Pour the nugget mixture into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly.
  5. Steam the mixture for about 15-20 minutes. Check for doneness by ensuring the mixture is no longer sticky.
  6. Once cooked, let the mixture cool slightly, then cut it into desired nugget shapes.
  7. Dip each nugget piece into the beaten egg, then roll it in bread crumbs until well coated.
  8. In a frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the nuggets until golden brown and crispy.
  9. Remove the nuggets from the oil and drain on paper towels. Any leftover nuggets can be stored in the freezer for later use.

Preparing the Tomato Sauce:

  1. In a small saucepan, bring water to a boil.
  2. Add the finely chopped tomato and salt to the boiling water.
  3. Stir the mixture until the tomato breaks down and the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  4. Serve the hot, crispy chicken nuggets with the freshly made tomato sauce.
