Chinese-Style Tahu and Chicken Perkedel
Ingredients:
- 4 small slices of chicken fillet (or 1 piece of chicken breast)
- Large tofu (silken tofu) or Chinese tofu
- A small bunch of chives
- 4 medium cloves of garlic
- 1 egg
- Salt to taste
- Optional: mushroom seasoning (or Totole) – 5 tablespoons
- All-purpose flour (Segitiga full) – enough to achieve the desired texture
Instructions:
-
Prepare Ingredients:
- Cut the chicken fillet into small pieces and chop the tofu into similar-sized chunks.
- Peel and roughly chop the garlic cloves.
- Finely slice the chives.
-
Blend Ingredients:
- In a food processor, combine the chicken, tofu, garlic, and chives. Pulse until the mixture is smooth and well-combined.
-
Incorporate Egg and Seasonings:
- Transfer the blended mixture to a bowl. Add the egg and mix thoroughly until well combined.
- Gradually add the flour, salt, and mushroom seasoning (if using) to the mixture. Stir until the texture becomes soft and slightly sticky.
-
Fry the Perkedel:
- Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Using two spoons, scoop portions of the mixture and gently drop them into the hot oil. Form the mixture into rough, irregular shapes – they don’t have to be perfect, but ensure they are evenly spaced in the pan.
- Fry the perkedel until golden brown and crispy on all sides, about 4-5 minutes per side.
-
Serve:
- Remove the perkedel from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy the delicious, crispy treats.
