Simple Fried Tofu with Egg (Tahu Goreng Telur)
Ingredients:
- 1 block of firm tofu (cut into your preferred size; ensure pieces are not too thin)
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Olive oil or canola oil
Instructions:

-
Prepare the Tofu:
Rinse the tofu under running water to clean it. Pat dry with a paper towel. Cut into your preferred size, ensuring the pieces are not too thin to avoid them breaking apart during frying. -
Season the Egg:
Crack the egg into a bowl and beat it lightly. Add a pinch of salt and pepper to the egg, mixing well to incorporate the seasoning evenly. -
Coat the Tofu:
Submerge each piece of tofu into the seasoned egg mixture, ensuring that it is thoroughly coated. -
Heat the Oil:
In a frying pan, heat a small amount of oil over medium-low heat. You only need enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, similar to the amount used for frying an omelet. -
Fry the Tofu:
Carefully place the egg-coated tofu pieces into the hot oil. Fry until one side is golden brown and crisp. Gently flip each piece to cook the other side. Continue frying until both sides are evenly browned and crispy. -
Drain and Serve:
Once cooked, remove the tofu from the pan and place it on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve hot as a delicious snack or appetizer.
