Crispy Tahu (Fried Tofu)

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Firm yellow tofu 4 pieces, cubed
For Spice Paste:
Garlic 2 cloves
Shallots 3 cloves
Turmeric 1 piece, thumb-sized
Coriander 1/2 teaspoon
For Dipping Batter:
All-purpose flour 6 tablespoons
Cornstarch 1 tablespoon
Egg 1, beaten
Water As needed
Salt To taste
Seasoning powder To taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Marinade: In a skillet, blend the garlic, shallots, turmeric, and coriander with a bit of water, salt, and seasoning powder to create a smooth paste. Soak the cubed tofu in this mixture for 10 minutes to infuse flavor.

  2. Make the Dipping Batter: In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, seasoning powder, and a pinch of pepper. Mix well.

  3. Coat the Tofu: Dip the marinated tofu into the flour mixture, then into the beaten egg, and return it to the flour mixture. Repeat this process until all the tofu pieces are coated.

  4. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Once hot, gently add the coated tofu pieces. Fry until golden brown, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.

  5. Serve: Once crispy and golden, remove the tofu from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot as a delicious snack or appetizer!
