Crispy Tahu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 pieces of yellow tofu (cut into small cubes and steamed briefly)

Wet Batter:

  • 6 tablespoons of Sasa seasoned flour
  • A pinch of ground black pepper
  • A pinch of ground coriander
  • Enough water to make a batter that’s not too thick or too runny

Dry Coating:

  • 1 small sachet of Sasa seasoned flour
  • 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (optional)
  • A pinch of ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder or salt

Instructions:

  1. Begin by steaming the tofu cubes until they are slightly tender. Allow them to cool slightly before handling.

  2. In a bowl, prepare the wet batter by mixing 6 tablespoons of Sasa seasoned flour with a pinch of ground black pepper and ground coriander. Gradually add water until the batter reaches a consistency that is not too thick or too runny.

  3. Dip each tofu cube into the wet batter, ensuring that it is well coated.

  4. In a separate bowl, mix together 1 small sachet of Sasa seasoned flour with 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (if using), a pinch of ground black pepper, and 1/4 teaspoon of chicken bouillon powder or salt.

  5. Roll each battered tofu cube in the dry coating mixture, pressing gently to ensure an even coating.

  6. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the coated tofu cubes until they are golden brown and crispy on all sides. This usually takes about 3-4 minutes per side.

  7. Remove the tofu from the pan and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  8. Serve hot. Enjoy the crispy tofu as is, or sprinkle with additional seasoning or serve with your favorite dipping sauce for extra flavor.

This crispy tofu is a delightful treat that’s simple to make and perfect as a snack or appetizer. Enjoy the crunchy texture and flavorful coating!
