Simple Beef Nuggets Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams coarsely ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons tapioca flour
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 large carrot, grated
  • 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons orange breadcrumbs (for coating)
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • A pinch of beef seasoning (e.g., Royco)
  • Cooking oil
  • Optional: oregano

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, cornstarch, tapioca flour, 2 eggs, grated carrot, finely chopped garlic, black pepper, salt, sugar, and beef seasoning. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well incorporated. For a hint of flavor, you can add oregano at this stage if desired.

  2. Steam the Mixture: Transfer the mixture into a baking dish or loaf pan and steam for approximately 40 minutes. This step ensures the mixture sets properly. Once steamed, remove from heat and let it cool completely.

  3. Shape the Nuggets: After cooling, cut the steamed mixture into nugget-sized pieces or shapes according to your preference.

  4. Coat the Nuggets: In a separate bowl, beat the remaining 2 eggs. Dip each nugget into the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with orange breadcrumbs. If you opted for oregano, sprinkle it on the breadcrumbs before coating the nuggets.

  5. Freeze: Arrange the coated nuggets in a container or on a baking sheet and place them in the freezer for at least 45 minutes. Freezing helps the coating adhere better and keeps the nuggets intact during frying.

  6. Fry the Nuggets: Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the frozen nuggets until golden brown and crispy on the outside, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
