Prepare the Batter:
To start, make the batter by combining the cornmeal and all-purpose flour in a large mixing bowl. Add a pinch of salt for seasoning. Next, incorporate the baking soda into the dry ingredients and give everything a gentle mix to distribute the dry ingredients evenly. Slowly pour in the whole milk at room temperature, stirring continuously with a whisk to ensure a smooth consistency. Then, crack in the egg, continuing to whisk until the batter is well-combined and free from lumps. Once the batter is ready, pour it into a tall, cylindrical container to make dipping the hot dogs easier. Set this aside while you prepare the hot dogs. -
Prepare the Hot Dogs:
Slice each hot dog (wurstel) in half, creating 12 smaller pieces. Carefully skewer the flat end of each hot dog with a wooden stick, ensuring itโs securely held. Repeat this process for all the hot dogs. -
Coat the Hot Dogs:
Gently roll each skewered hot dog in flour, making sure they are fully coated. This will help the batter adhere better when dipped. Once coated, shake off any excess flour. -
Fry the Corn Dogs:
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan or pot. Use a cooking thermometer to monitor the temperature of the oil and heat it to around 170ยฐC (340ยฐF). Once the oil has reached the correct temperature, dip each flour-coated hot dog into the prepared batter, ensuring it is completely covered.Gently lower the coated hot dog into the hot oil and fry it for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the batter turns golden brown and crispy. To ensure even frying, turn the corn dog occasionally. Once fried, remove the corn dog and place it on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.

Serve:
Serve the corn dogs hot and crispy, perfect as a snack or appetizer. Theyโre best enjoyed fresh out of the fryer with your favorite dipping sauce, such as mustard or ketchup.
Enjoy these delightful, crispy corn dogs with friends and family, and make them a fun treat for any gathering or party!
