Description:
These Indian Tacos are a beloved dish in my household, loved by all, even the pickiest eaters! The highlight of this recipe is the flavorful fry bread, which adds a delightful crunch to every bite. Be sure to pay extra attention when frying the bread—it’s worth the effort for its irresistible taste and texture. Layered with seasoned ground beef, beans, cheese, and fresh toppings, these tacos are sure to become a favorite in your home too!

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
1 lb Lean ground beef
1 Onion
1 tsp Salt
1/4 tsp Pepper
1 tsp Tabasco sauce
1 can Pinto beans
2 cups Cheese
Lettuce
Chopped tomato
2 Eggs
1 cup Milk
4 cups Flour
3/4 tsp Baking powder

Instructions:

  1. In a skillet, combine the lean ground beef, diced onion, salt, pepper, and Tabasco sauce. Brown the meat mixture over medium heat, breaking it apart with a spatula as it cooks.

  2. Once the meat is browned, cover the skillet and let the mixture simmer while you prepare the fry bread.

  3. Fry Bread:
    a. In a bowl, beat the eggs and then add the milk, stirring to combine.
    b. Gradually add the baking powder, flour, and salt to the egg mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
    c. On a floured surface, roll out the dough very thin and cut it into desired shapes.
    d. Make a slash in the center of each piece of dough to ensure even frying.
    e. In a deep skillet or fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat.
    f. Fry the dough pieces in the hot oil until golden brown on both sides, then transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

  4. Once the fry bread is ready, it’s time to assemble the tacos. Layer each piece of fry bread with a generous portion of the cooked meat mixture, pinto beans, shredded cheese, crisp lettuce, and chopped tomatoes.

  5. Serve the Indian Tacos hot and enjoy the delicious flavors and textures!
