Sempol Ayam Recipe: A Delicious Indonesian Chicken Skewer Delight

Ingredients:

  • 300 grams ground chicken
  • 1 medium carrot, finely chopped
  • 1 stalk green onion, thinly sliced
  • 12 tablespoons tapioca flour (kanji)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 seasoning packet (adjust to taste)
  • 1 seasoning packet of ground pepper (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1 egg
  • For coating:
    • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mixture:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, finely chopped carrot, and thinly sliced green onion. Mix thoroughly to ensure an even distribution of ingredients.

  2. Season the Mixture:
Add the minced garlic, salt, seasoning packet, and ground pepper to the bowl. Stir well to incorporate all the seasonings into the chicken mixture.

  3. Incorporate Tapioca Flour:
Gradually add the tapioca flour to the mixture, stirring continuously until the dough becomes firm and cohesive.

  4. Add the Egg:
Crack the egg into the mixture and mix until fully combined, creating a smooth and consistent texture.

  5. Shape the Sempol:
Form the mixture into small, elongated shapes according to your preference.

  6. Cook the Sempol:
Bring a pot of water to a boil. Gently drop the shaped sempol into the boiling water. Cook until the sempol floats to the surface, indicating they are cooked through. Remove from water and allow them to cool.

  7. Coat and Fry:
Once cooled, dip each sempol into the beaten egg to coat. Heat oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the sempol until golden brown and crispy. Remove from oil and drain on paper towels.

  8. Serve:
Enjoy your sempol with a side of sambal (chili sauce) or peanut sauce for added flavor.

Happy cooking and enjoy your homemade Sempol Ayam! 😁

Feel free to adjust seasoning and dipping sauces to suit your taste preferences!
