Crispy Fried Catfish (Lele Goreng Kriuk Simple)

Ingredients

Quantity Ingredient
10 pieces (approx. 1200g) Catfish (Lele)
3 cloves Garlic
3 large pieces Turmeric (kunyit)
1 tablespoon Coriander (ketumbar)
To taste Salt
Enough Water (for soaking the fish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Catfish: Begin by thoroughly cleaning the catfish under running water. Once cleaned, rub the fish with salt and let it sit for 10 minutes to absorb the flavor. Rinse again to remove excess salt.

  2. Make the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine the garlic, turmeric, coriander, and a pinch of salt. Add a sufficient amount of water to create a marinade that is well mixed.

  3. Marinate the Fish: Place the cleaned catfish into the marinade, ensuring that each piece is fully submerged. Align the fish to prevent curling during frying. Allow the fish to marinate for 20 minutes to infuse the flavors.

  4. Frying: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium to high heat. Fry the catfish, taking care not to overcrowd the pan—typically, you can fry three pieces at a time. Cook each side for about 10 minutes until golden brown and crispy.

  5. Drain and Serve: Once cooked, carefully remove the catfish from the oil and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy your crispy fried catfish!

This delightful dish is perfect for any occasion, bringing a taste of traditional Indonesian cuisine to your table!
