Crispy Indonesian Fried Chicken (Ayam Goreng Krutuk)

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • Water, as needed (approximately 1/2 cup)
  • 1 whole chicken, boiled and cooled
  • Salt, to taste
  • Sugar or seasoning powder, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • Cooking oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Flour Mixture:
In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with salt, sugar or seasoning powder, and ground black pepper. Gradually add water while stirring until the mixture thickens slightly. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  2. Coat the Chicken:
Pat dry the boiled chicken and cut it into pieces. Coat each piece evenly with the beaten egg.

  3. Dredge in Flour Mixture:
Roll each egg-coated chicken piece in the seasoned flour mixture until well coated. Set aside on a plate.

  4. Fry the Chicken:
Heat cooking oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the flour-coated chicken pieces into the pan. Reduce the heat to medium-low and fry the chicken until golden brown and crispy on all sides, turning occasionally for even cooking.

  5. Drain and Serve:
Once cooked through and crispy, remove the fried chicken from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil.

  6. Enjoy Your Meal!
Serve the crispy Indonesian fried chicken (Ayam Goreng Krutuk) hot with your favorite side dishes or dipping sauces.
