Bakwan Tahu Teri

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized tofu
  • 3 tablespoons Medan anchovies
  • 1 egg
  • All-purpose flour, as needed
  • 1 clove garlic, finely minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground coriander
  • Salt, to taste
  • Oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Begin by crumbling the tofu into a large mixing bowl. The tofu should be broken down into small pieces to ensure a uniform mixture.

  2. Mix Ingredients: Add the Medan anchovies to the bowl with the crumbled tofu. Incorporate the all-purpose flour gradually, adding just enough to bind the ingredients together. Crack the egg into the bowl and mix thoroughly. Add the minced garlic, ground black pepper, ground coriander, and salt, blending everything until well combined.

  3. Heat the Oil: In a large skillet or frying pan, heat oil over medium-high heat. You’ll need enough oil to cover the bottom of the pan, about 1-2 inches deep, to achieve a crisp, golden exterior.

  4. Fry the Mixture: Using a tablespoon, scoop out small portions of the mixture and carefully drop them into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Cook each fritter until it turns a deep golden brown and is cooked through, about 3-4 minutes per side.

  5. Drain and Serve: Once cooked, remove the fritters from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy your crispy, savory Bakwan Tahu Teri!
