Savory Beef Martabak Recipe

Experience the delightful flavors of Savory Beef Martabak, a scrumptious treat that combines savory ground beef with aromatic spices and crispy wrappers. This recipe offers a taste of Indonesian cuisine, ideal for a satisfying appetizer or snack. Here’s a step-by-step guide to crafting these delectable martabaks at home.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 1 medium potato, diced into small cubes
  • 2 stalks green onions, finely chopped
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • Salt, to taste
  • Pepper, to taste
  • Sugar, to taste
  • 1 teaspoon beef bouillon powder
  • 1 chicken egg
  • 1 duck egg
  • Wonton wrappers, as needed for wrapping

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling:

    • Heat a pan over medium heat and sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant and golden brown.
    • Add the diced potato and ground beef to the pan. Pour in a small amount of water to help cook the potato and beef mixture. Continue to cook until the potato is tender and the beef is fully browned.
  2. Season the Mixture:

    • Stir in the chopped green onions, cumin, ground coriander, salt, pepper, sugar, and beef bouillon powder. Mix well to ensure all the spices are evenly distributed. Cook until the liquid is fully evaporated and the mixture is dry. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.
  3. Combine with Eggs:

    • Beat the chicken and duck eggs together in a separate bowl. Add this egg mixture to the cooled beef mixture and stir thoroughly to combine.
  4. Assemble the Martabak:

    • Place a small amount of the beef mixture onto the center of each wonton wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling to create a neat package, sealing the edges well to prevent leakage during frying.
  5. Fry the Martabak:

    • Heat oil in a deep pan or skillet over medium heat. Carefully slide the prepared martabaks into the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Cook until the martabaks are golden brown and crispy, turning them occasionally for even cooking.
  6. Drain and Serve:

    • Remove the martabaks from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot as an appetizer or snack.

Enjoy your homemade Savory Beef Martabak, a flavorful and crispy delight that’s sure to impress your family and friends.
