Smoky Beef Risoles Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Wrapper:

  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • 2 tablespoons sweetened condensed milk
  • 250 grams all-purpose flour, sifted

For the Filling:

  • 3 slices smoked beef, cooked and cut into small pieces
  • Mayonnaise, to taste
  • 2 boiled eggs, chopped

For Coating:

  • Egg whites
  • Bread crumbs, finely ground

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Wrapper:

    • Begin by heating a non-stick frying pan with a diameter of 12-15 cm over medium heat.
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the eggs, melted butter, sweetened condensed milk, and stir well until blended.
    • Gradually add the sifted all-purpose flour to the mixture, a little at a time, stirring continuously until the batter is smooth and well combined.
    • Use a ladle to pour the batter into the heated pan, spreading it evenly to form a thin layer. Cook until the edges start to lift and the surface is set. Flip carefully and cook the other side until golden brown. Remove from the pan and repeat with the remaining batter.
  2. Assemble the Risoles:

    • Once all the wrappers are prepared and cooled, place a small amount of chopped smoked beef, boiled eggs, and a dollop of mayonnaise in the center of each wrapper.
    • Fold the sides of the wrapper over the filling to create an envelope shape, securing the edges to enclose the filling completely.
  3. Chill:

    • Place the assembled risoles on a plate or tray and refrigerate for about 30 minutes. This step helps the risoles to hold their shape and makes them easier to coat and fry.
  4. Coat and Fry:

    • Prepare the coating by placing egg whites in a shallow dish and finely ground bread crumbs in another.
    • Dip each chilled risole into the egg whites, allowing any excess to drip off, then coat evenly with the bread crumbs.
    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the coated risoles until they are golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking.
    • Alternatively, you can prepare them in advance, coat with bread crumbs, and freeze. When ready to cook, simply fry from frozen until crispy and golden brown.
  5. Serve:

    • Enjoy your homemade smoky beef risoles hot and crispy, perfect as a snack or appetizer!

Feel free to adjust the seasoning and filling ingredients to suit your taste. Happy cooking! 😄👍
