Sweet and Sour Snapper (Ikan Bawal Putih Saus Asam Manis)

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium-sized snapper, cleaned and gills removed

  • 2 red chilies, sliced diagonally
  • 1 stalk spring onion, chopped
  • 1/2 tomato, roughly chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Saori Sweet and Sour Sauce
  • 80 ml water
  • Salt, pepper, and sugar to taste
  • Cooking oil for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Snapper: Rinse the snapper thoroughly and remove the gills. Rub the fish with a bit of salt. Heat enough oil in a pan and fry the snapper until golden and crispy. Once done, remove from the pan and drain on paper towels.

  2. Make the Sweet and Sour Sauce: Heat a small amount of oil in a pan. Sauté the sliced onions, garlic, and shallots until fragrant.

  3. Add Vegetables: Toss in the spring onion, carrot, red chilies, and tomato. Stir-fry for a minute. Then, add the Saori Sweet and Sour Sauce, water, sugar, pepper, and salt to taste. Stir well and cook until the sauce thickens and reduces.

  4. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if needed. Once the sauce has thickened to your liking, remove from heat.

  5. Serve: Pour the sweet and sour sauce over the fried snapper. Serve hot and enjoy the delightful combination of flavors!
