Quick and Easy Tahu Rempah

Ingredients:

  • 1 pack of tofu (approximately 8 pieces)
  • 1 large egg
  • 5 shallots
  • 4 garlic cloves
  • 1 stalk of scallions
  • 2 large red chilies
  • 1/2 packet ground black pepper
  • 1 seasoning packet (Royco or Masako)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Begin by preparing the tofu and other ingredients. Peel and finely chop the shallots and garlic cloves. Remove the stems and seeds from the red chilies, then chop them into small pieces.

  2. Mash Tofu: Using a fork, mash the tofu in a large mixing bowl until it becomes a smooth and cohesive mixture.

  3. Slice Scallions: Thinly slice the scallions and add them to the bowl with the mashed tofu.

  4. Mix Spices and Seasoning: Add the chopped shallots, garlic, and red chilies to the tofu mixture. Stir in the ground black pepper and your chosen seasoning packet. Mix everything thoroughly.

  5. Add Egg: Taste the mixture and adjust the seasoning as needed. Once satisfied, beat the egg and incorporate it into the tofu mixture, ensuring an even blend.

  6. Form Patties: Shape the mixture into small patties or balls, as desired.

  7. Fry: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the patties until they are golden brown and crispy on the outside.

  8. Drain and Serve: Remove the patties from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve hot and enjoy!
