Crispy Chicken Mie Goreng Ayam

Ingredients:

  • 1 package instant fried noodles
  • 1 chicken breast
  • 1 packet Kentucky flour or all-purpose flour (note: homemade Kentucky-style flour can be used, as per the tempe Kentucky recipe)
  • 5 red bird’s eye chilies
  • Cooking oil, as needed

For the Marinade:

  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • Salt, to taste
  • Ground black pepper, to taste

For the BBQ Sauce Mixture:

  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon chili sauce
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (alternatively, use a small amount of fried and minced garlic)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Chicken:

    • Rinse the chicken breast and marinate it with minced garlic, salt, and ground black pepper. Refrigerate for 1 hour to allow the flavors to infuse.
  2. Prepare the Breading:

    • Set up a breading station with two separate bowls: one for the wet batter and one for the dry coating. For a homemade Kentucky-style flour, use the same method as for tempe Kentucky.
    • Dip the marinated chicken into the wet batter, then coat it thoroughly with the dry flour mixture. Press the coating onto the chicken to ensure it sticks well. Repeat by dipping the chicken back into the wet batter and then into the dry flour again.
  3. Fry the Chicken:

    • Heat oil in a pan over low heat. Fry the breaded chicken until it is golden brown and crispy. Be patient and cook over a low flame to achieve a perfect crispy texture.
  4. Prepare the Chili Paste:

    • Finely chop the red bird’s eye chilies. Mix the chopped chilies with the crispy fried chicken, lightly crushing or smashing the chilies into the chicken for added heat and flavor.
  5. Cook the Noodles:

    • Prepare the instant noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, add the provided seasoning and mix well.
  6. Assemble the Dish:

    • Place the cooked noodles on a serving plate. Top with the crispy chicken and chili mixture. Drizzle with the BBQ sauce mixture, combining ketchup, chili sauce, and garlic powder (or minced garlic).
  7. Serve:
