-
Prepare the Batter:
Related Articles- In a mortar or blender, grind together the garlic, coriander, and salt to make the spice mix.
- In a bowl, combine the ground spice mix with 6 tablespoons of all-purpose flour and 2 tablespoons of rice flour. Add water gradually while stirring to create a batter. The batter should be thick enough to coat the tempeh without being too runny. Optionally, you can add sliced green onions for extra flavor.
-
Prepare the Filling:
- In a mortar or blender, grind the bird’s eye chilies, curly red chilies, shallots, garlic, salt, and bouillon powder to create a spicy filling.
- Heat a tablespoon of oil and mix it into the ground filling to bring out the flavors.
-
Stuff the Tempeh:
- Take the spicy filling and stuff it into the slit you created in each piece of tempeh, making sure the filling is evenly distributed but not spilling out.
-
Fry the Tempeh:
- Heat oil in a pan over medium heat.
- Dip each stuffed tempeh into the batter, ensuring the filling is securely enclosed, and coat it evenly.
- Fry the tempeh until it turns golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Make sure the filling doesn’t leak out during frying.
-
Serve:
- Once the tempeh is crispy and golden, remove it from the oil and drain it on paper towels.
- Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce, or enjoy it as is for a spicy, crispy snack!
