Mendol Tempe Recipe

Ingredients:

Ingredient Amount
Steamed Tempeh 250 grams
Tapioca Flour 1 tablespoon
Garlic 2 cloves
Shallots 3 cloves
Salt To taste
Seasoning Powder (Royco) To taste
Chili Flakes (Bon Cabe) To taste
Sugar 1 tablespoon
Cooking Oil For frying

Instructions:

  1. Steam the Tempeh: Begin by steaming the tempeh until it’s soft. Once steamed, mash the tempeh in a bowl. You can either use a fork or a mortar and pestle to achieve a smoother consistency.

  2. Blend the Aromatics: Finely chop or crush the garlic and shallots. Combine them with the mashed tempeh, ensuring the flavors are well incorporated.

  3. Mix the Ingredients: Add the tapioca flour, salt, seasoning powder (Royco), sugar, and chili flakes (Bon Cabe) to the tempeh mixture. If you want to add a touch of warmth and fragrance, a pinch of ground coriander can also be included at this stage.

  4. Shape the Tempeh: Once the mixture is well combined, shape it into your desired forms. You can make round or oval-shaped balls, or even get creative with different shapes for a fun twist.

  5. Fry to Perfection: Heat cooking oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the tempeh pieces until they turn golden brown and crispy on the outside.

  6. Serve: Once cooked, remove the mendol tempe from the oil and drain on paper towels to remove excess oil. Serve hot as a snack or a delicious side dish.

Enjoy this savory and crunchy tempeh treat with a spicy kick!
