Tahu Cabe Garam: Spicy Fried Tofu

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Firm Tofu (Tahu Putih) 2 packages
SaSa All-Purpose Seasoning Flour 1 package
Garlic 5 cloves, minced
Curly Chili Peppers (Cabe Keriting) 10, sliced
Bird’s Eye Chili (Cabe Rawit) 2, sliced
Green Onion (Daun Bawang) 1 stalk, sliced
Salt 1 tsp
Beef Bouillon Powder ½ tsp
Sugar ½ tsp
Cooking Oil As needed
Water As needed

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Rinse and cut the tofu into small cubes. In a bowl, mix a small amount of SaSa flour with water to create a wet batter, then coat the tofu cubes in this mixture.

  2. Coat the Tofu: Set aside the remaining SaSa flour for a dry coating. Just before frying, transfer the coated tofu into the dry flour to ensure a crispy texture.

  3. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a pan and fry the tofu until golden and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  4. Sauté the Aromatics: In a non-stick skillet (to prevent burning), sauté the sliced curly chilies and minced garlic until fragrant and softened. Add the salt, beef bouillon, and sugar to enhance the flavors.

  5. Combine Ingredients: Gently add the fried tofu and sliced green onions to the skillet, cooking for a brief moment to combine the flavors.

  6. Serve: Your Tahu Cabe Garam is now ready to be served. Enjoy this delightful spicy dish as a savory accompaniment or a stand-alone snack!

This vibrant dish is a perfect fusion of crispy tofu and fiery chilies, delivering a satisfying crunch and a burst of flavor in every bite.
