Tempe Mendoan Recipe

Ingredients:

Quantity Ingredient
8 pieces Tempe (cut in half without slicing through)
2 handfuls Green onions (finely chopped)
6 tablespoons All-purpose flour
3 tablespoons Rice flour
1 Egg
To taste Salt
To taste Sugar
To taste Pepper
As needed Water (to achieve the right batter consistency)

Instructions:

  1. Begin by cutting the tempe into halves without fully slicing through, creating a pocket for the filling. Finely chop the green onions and set them aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rice flour, salt, sugar, pepper, water, and egg. Stir well until the mixture forms a smooth batter that is neither too runny nor too thick.
  3. Dip each piece of tempe into the batter, ensuring that the filling pocket is generously coated. Gently stuff some of the chopped green onions into the pocket of each tempe piece.
  4. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the battered tempe into the oil, frying until golden brown on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels before serving.

Enjoy this delightful Tempe Mendoan as a crispy snack or a side dish, perfectly paired with a spicy dipping sauce!
