  • 1 teaspoon chicken or vegetable stock powder
  • Hot water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu: Begin by washing the tofu thoroughly. Cut each piece into triangles and carefully hollow out the center, leaving a small edge around the tofu. Set the prepared tofu aside.

  2. Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, tapioca flour, salt, and stock powder. Mix well to ensure the seasonings are evenly distributed. Add the sliced green onions and grated garlic to the flour mixture, stirring until they are well incorporated.

  3. Add Water: Gradually add hot water to the flour mixture, stirring continuously, until you achieve a thick, dough-like consistency. The mixture should be similar in texture to meatball batter—smooth and somewhat pliable.

  4. Stuff the Tofu: Carefully spoon the batter into the hollowed-out centers of the tofu triangles, filling them completely. Ensure the batter is packed firmly but avoid overfilling to prevent it from spilling out during cooking.

  5. Fry the Tofu: Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, gently place the stuffed tofu pieces into the oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, which should take about 3-4 minutes. Flip the tofu pieces occasionally to ensure even cooking.
