Ingredients

  • 10 pieces of Yellow Tofu (cut open and hollowed out)
  • 1 Carrot (coarsely grated)
  • 3 Stalks of Green Onions (chopped roughly)
  • 4 Leaves of Cabbage (finely sliced)
  • 1 Package of Corn Vermicelli (soaked in hot water, drained, and cut into pieces)
  • 300 grams All-Purpose Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 Tablespoons Rice Flour
  • Chicken Bouillon Powder (to taste)
  • Water (as needed)
  • Cooking Oil (for frying)

For the Spice Paste:

  • 5 Cloves of Garlic
  • 1/2 Teaspoon Ground Pepper
  • Salt (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Spice Paste:

    • In a blender or food processor, combine the garlic cloves, ground pepper, and salt. Blend until you achieve a smooth paste.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:

    • Heat a pan over medium heat and add a splash of oil. Sauté the spice paste until fragrant.
    • Add the grated carrot, sliced cabbage, and chopped green onions. Stir-fry until the vegetables are tender and well-mixed.
    • Incorporate the soaked corn vermicelli into the pan, mixing thoroughly. Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Tofu:

    • Gently cut open the yellow tofu and carefully remove the filling to create space for the vegetable mixture. Save the tofu filling for another use or discard it.
  4. Fill the Tofu:

    • Stuff the tofu pieces with the cooked vegetable mixture, ensuring they are filled generously.
  5. Make the Coating:

    • In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, additional all-purpose flour, rice flour, and chicken bouillon powder. Gradually add water while stirring until you form a thick batter.
  6. Coat the Tofu:

    • Dip each stuffed tofu piece into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated.
  7. Fry the Tofu:

    • Heat oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat. Carefully place the coated tofu pieces into the hot oil.
    • Fry until golden brown and crispy, turning occasionally to ensure even cooking. Once done, remove from the oil and drain on paper towels.
  8. Serve:

    • Tahu Isi Akhir Pekan is now ready to be enjoyed! Serve hot with chili or sambal sauce on the side for an extra kick.

Enjoy this crispy, savory Indonesian treat that’s perfect for a weekend snack or an impressive appetizer. Happy cooking and savor every bite! 😁👌
