Tahu Isi Sayur: A Delightful Indonesian Snack

Ingredients:

  • 12 pieces of tofu skin (tahu kulit)
  • For the Filling:
    • 1 egg
    • Chopped green onions and celery
    • A small amount of cornstarch (tepung maizena)
  • Seasonings:
    • 3 cloves garlic
    • Ground black pepper, to taste
    • Salt, to taste
  • For Coating:
    • All-purpose flour (tepung terigu)
    • Sajiku seasoning flour
    • Water, as needed

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu Skin: Begin by washing the tofu skin thoroughly. Gently tear each piece down the middle to create a pocket for the filling.

  2. Make the Filling: In a blender or food processor, blend the garlic with salt and pepper until smooth. Chop the green onions and celery finely. In a mixing bowl, combine the garlic mixture with the chopped vegetables, egg, and cornstarch. Whisk everything together until well combined.

  3. Stuff the Tofu: Carefully spoon the prepared filling into each piece of tofu skin, ensuring that the filling is evenly distributed.

  4. Prepare the Coating: In a separate bowl, mix all-purpose flour with Sajiku seasoning flour. Gradually add water to create a thick batter that will coat the tofu skins.

  5. Coat and Fry: Dip each stuffed tofu piece into the batter, ensuring an even coating. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu pieces in batches, turning occasionally until they are golden brown and crispy.

  6. Serve: Remove the tofu from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve hot as a savory snack or appetizer.
