Ingredients

Main Ingredients Quantity
Fried tofu (tahu goreng) 10 pieces
Carrot (medium) 1, peeled and diced small
Bean sprouts 2 handfuls
Cabbage A few leaves, thinly sliced
Green onion 1 stalk, finely sliced
Garlic 2 cloves
Ground pepper To taste
Chicken bouillon powder To taste
Salt To taste
Margarine for sautéing As needed
Batter Ingredients Quantity
All-purpose flour 4 tablespoons
Rice flour 3 tablespoons
Turmeric (fresh or powder) A pinch
Garlic 1 clove, minced
Ground coriander 1 teaspoon
Salt, ground pepper, and bouillon To taste
Egg white 1 (optional)
Water As needed to achieve consistency
Oil For frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling: In a blender or food processor, blend the garlic until fine. Heat a pan with a little margarine and sauté the garlic until fragrant. Add the diced carrot, followed by the bean sprouts and cabbage. Finally, stir in the green onions. Season with ground pepper, chicken bouillon, and salt to taste. Cook briefly, ensuring the vegetables remain crisp. Once ready, set aside to cool.

  2. Prepare the Tofu: Carefully slice each tofu piece open without cutting all the way through, creating a pocket. Gently scrape out some of the tofu filling, taking care not to damage the outer layer. Mix this scraped tofu with the sautéed vegetable filling.

  3. Stuff the Tofu: Generously fill each tofu pocket with the vegetable mixture, packing it well.

  4. Make the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, rice flour, turmeric, minced garlic, ground coriander, salt, pepper, and bouillon. Slowly add water, stirring continuously until the batter is smooth and thickened. If using, fold in the egg white for extra crispiness.

  5. Fry the Tofu: Heat enough oil in a deep frying pan to submerge the tofu. Dip each stuffed tofu piece into the batter, coating it thoroughly. Carefully place the tofu in the hot oil, frying until golden brown on all sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  6. Serve: Enjoy the Tahu Susur hot, paired with fresh chili sauce for an extra kick!

This Tahu Susur recipe offers a perfect balance of crispy texture and flavorful filling, sure to impress your family and friends with every bite.
