Gurame Asam Manis

Ingredients

Fish and Marinade

  • 1 gurame fish, filleted
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground pepper
  • 1 tablespoon broth powder

Coating

  • Cornstarch (as needed)
  • All-purpose flour (as needed)
  • (Ratio of all-purpose flour to cornstarch = 5:1)
  • Salt (optional, depending on taste)

Steps

  1. Marinate the Fish: Place the gurame fish fillets in a bowl. In a separate bowl, mix the egg, garlic powder, ground pepper, and broth powder until well combined. Pour the marinade over the fish, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Let the fish marinate for approximately 1 hour to absorb the flavors.

  2. Coat the Fish: After marinating, remove the fish from the marinade. In a shallow dish, mix the cornstarch and all-purpose flour together. Dredge each fillet in the flour mixture, making sure each piece is evenly coated. The ratio of all-purpose flour to cornstarch should be 5:1.

  3. Fry the Fish: Heat oil in a large frying pan over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated fish fillets. Fry the fish until they are golden brown and crispy. This should take about 5-7 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of the fillets. Be careful not to overcrowd the pan to ensure even frying.

  4. Drain the Fish: Once the fish fillets are cooked through and have a nice golden-brown color, remove them from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.

  5. Plate and Serve: Arrange the fried fish fillets on a serving plate. For an extra touch, you can shape them in an appealing manner.

  6. Add the Sauce: Drizzle the fish with sweet and sour sauce. The recipe for this delicious sauce can be found in a previous post on our site. Ensure the sauce is evenly distributed over the fish.

  7. Enjoy: Serve the Gurame Asam Manis immediately while hot. This dish is best enjoyed fresh and crispy.

Bon appétit! This dish is a delightful combination of crispy fried fish and tangy sweet and sour sauce, perfect for a family meal or a special occasion. Enjoy the burst of flavors with every bite!
