Ingredients:

Ingredient Amount
Tuna fillet 1/4 fillet
Saori oyster sauce 23 ml
Cornstarch 1 tablespoon
Tomato 1
Chili sauce 3 packets
All-purpose flour 5 tablespoons
Salt 1 teaspoon
Egg 1
Onion (Bombay) 1/2
Garlic 2 cloves
Soy sauce 1 tablespoon

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tuna:

    • Rinse the tuna fillet thoroughly with lime juice to enhance its flavor and freshness. After rinsing, let it rest in the refrigerator for about 20 minutes to marinate.
  2. Make the Batter:

    • In a bowl, beat the egg and mix it with all-purpose flour, stirring until well combined. If the batter seems too thick, gradually add a little water to achieve a smooth consistency.
  3. Coat the Tuna:

    • Add the marinated tuna fillet to the batter and toss gently until the fish is evenly coated. Allow the coated tuna to sit for about 15 minutes to set the batter.
  4. Fry the Tuna:

    • Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Carefully dip the coated tuna into the hot oil, frying until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcooking, as you want the tuna to be moist inside.
  5. Drain the Fried Tuna:

    • Once cooked, remove the tuna fillets from the oil and let them drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.
  6. Prepare the Sauce:

    • In a separate pan, sautรฉ the chopped onion and minced garlic over medium heat until they become translucent, but not overly soft.
    • Add the chili sauce, soy sauce, oyster sauce, and the cornstarch mixed with a little water. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  7. Combine Tuna and Sauce:

    • Adjust the seasoning of the sauce by adding a pinch of salt if needed. If the sauce is too thick, gradually add water until you reach the desired consistency.
    • Gently add the fried tuna to the sauce, mixing carefully to coat the fish without breaking it apart. Heat until the sauce bubbles, then remove from heat.
  8. Serve:

    • Transfer the Tuna Asam Manis to a serving dish, garnishing with chopped tomatoes for added freshness. This dish can easily serve three people, making it a great option for family dinners.

Chefโ€™s Tips:

  • For a child-friendly version, simply omit the chili sauce, and serve the crispy tuna with just the all-purpose flour batter. It remains delicious and appealing for young taste buds!
  • Enjoy your Tuna Asam Manis with steamed rice or your favorite side dishes for a complete meal.

Bon Appรฉtit!
