Sweet and Sour Tuna (Tuna Asam Manis Simple) Recipe

Ingredients:

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tuna:
    Start by thoroughly cleaning the fresh tuna. Slice it into thin, bite-sized pieces. Season the fish with a generous sprinkle of salt and black pepper. Mix well to ensure the seasoning is evenly distributed.

  2. Prepare the Coating:
    In two separate bowls, prepare the coatings for the tuna.

    • In the first bowl, beat the egg with a little salt and pepper.
    • In the second bowl, combine the all-purpose flour with a pinch of salt and pepper.
  3. Coat and Fry the Tuna:
    Dip each piece of tuna in the egg mixture, followed by coating it with flour. Repeat the process: dip the fish in the egg again, then coat it once more in flour. This double coating will give the tuna a nice crispy texture.

    In a frying pan, heat some oil over low heat. Fry the coated tuna pieces until golden and crispy on both sides. Remove the fried tuna and drain excess oil on paper towels.

  4. Prepare the Sauce:
    Thinly slice the garlic and onion. In the same frying pan, add the margarine and sauté the garlic and onion until they are soft and aromatic.

  5. Add the Sauces:
    Pour in the oyster sauce and tomato ketchup. Stir the ingredients together, ensuring the sauce is well combined. Season the sauce with a pinch of salt, black pepper, and a little sugar to balance the flavors. Adjust the sweetness and sourness to taste.

  6. Combine the Tuna and Sauce:
    Add the fried tuna pieces into the pan with the sauce. Gently toss the tuna in the sauce until the pieces are well-coated and heated through.

  7. Serve:
    Once the tuna is thoroughly mixed with the sauce, turn off the heat. Serve the sweet and sour tuna hot, garnished with additional fresh herbs if desired. It pairs wonderfully with steamed rice or noodles.
