Tahu Bulat Unyu Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 20 small pieces of firm tofu
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Salt, to taste
  • Seasoning, to taste
  • Sambal for dipping (I prefer using B*ncabe)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tofu:
Begin by pressing the tofu to remove as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial to ensure the tofu has the right texture after frying.

  2. Mix Ingredients:
Once the tofu is well-pressed, transfer it to a mixing bowl. Add the baking powder, salt, and seasoning to the tofu. Use your hands to mix these ingredients thoroughly until they are well combined.

  3. Incorporate the Egg:
Crack the egg into the tofu mixture. Continue to mix with your hands until the egg is fully incorporated and the mixture is uniform.

  4. Shape the Tofu:
Shape the tofu mixture into small balls according to your preference. I like to make them small, but you can adjust the size based on your liking.

  5. Chill:
Place the shaped tofu balls in a covered container and refrigerate for about 1 hour. This chilling step helps the tofu balls firm up, making them easier to handle during frying.

  6. Bring to Room Temperature:
Before frying, allow the tofu balls to sit at room temperature for a while to reach the same temperature as the room. This ensures even cooking.

  7. Fry the Tofu Balls:
Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Fry the tofu balls until they are golden brown and crispy. This usually takes a few minutes per side.

  8. Serve:
Serve the tofu balls warm with your favorite sambal for dipping. I recommend using B*ncabe for a delightful kick.

Enjoy your homemade Tahu Bulat Unyu, a crispy and savory treat perfect for snacking or as an appetizer!
