Simple Tempe Tepung

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Tempe 1 block
All-purpose flour 6 tablespoons
Cooking oil As needed
Water As needed
Spices (ground)
Garlic 5 cloves
Turmeric root 1/2 inch piece
Salt To taste

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Begin by slicing the tempe into thin pieces to ensure even cooking.

  2. Make the Spice Mixture: In a blender or mortar, grind the garlic and turmeric until smooth. Combine this mixture with the all-purpose flour in a bowl.

  3. Mix the Batter: Gradually add water to the flour and spice mixture, stirring until well combined. Aim for a slightly thick consistency; it shouldn’t be too runny.

  4. Adjust Seasoning: Taste the batter for saltiness. If it needs more salt, add accordingly, keeping in mind that flavors can mellow during cooking.

  5. Coat the Tempe: Dip each piece of tempe into the batter, ensuring it is evenly coated.

  6. Fry to Perfection: Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the coated tempe into the oil. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-5 minutes per side.

  7. Serve and Enjoy: Remove from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a side of sweet soy sauce for dipping. Enjoy the delightful crunch and flavors! 😋

This simple yet delicious dish captures the essence of Indonesian flavors, perfect for a snack or appetizer.
