Tempe Oatmeal Delight

Ingredients

Main Ingredients Measurements
Tempe (medium-sized) 1 piece
Soy sauce 2 tablespoons
Mushroom seasoning 1 teaspoon
Ground black pepper 1 teaspoon
Ground coriander 1 tablespoon
All-purpose flour 2 tablespoons
Rice flour 2 tablespoons
Cornstarch 2 tablespoons
Fine salt ½ teaspoon
Oatmeal Ingredients Measurements
Nestum or Quaker Oats (red pack) 6 tablespoons
White sesame seeds 1 tablespoon
Black sesame seeds 1 tablespoon
Kaffir lime leaves (sliced) 3 leaves
Granulated sugar 3 tablespoons
Fine salt ½ teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Slice the tempe into thin pieces and marinate with soy sauce, mushroom seasoning, ground black pepper, and ground coriander. Allow it to soak in the flavors for a bit.

  2. Make the Batter: In a bowl, combine all-purpose flour, rice flour, cornstarch, and a pinch of fine salt. Gradually add water while mixing until you achieve a thick batter consistency, similar to a banana fritter batter.

  3. Coat and Fry the Tempe: Dip the marinated tempe slices into the batter, ensuring they are well coated. Deep fry in hot oil until crispy and golden brown. Once cooked, set aside on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  4. Prepare the Oatmeal Mixture: In a separate skillet, toast the Nestum or Quaker oats over medium heat until fragrant, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

  5. Combine and Serve: Once the oats are toasted, turn off the heat and add the crispy tempe into the skillet. Toss everything together until well combined. Serve warm, garnished with sesame seeds and sliced kaffir lime leaves for an aromatic touch.

Enjoy this delightful Tempe Oatmeal dish as a wholesome snack or a unique addition to your meals!
