2. Heat the oil in a pan over low heat. Sautรฉ the shallots, garlic, chili peppers, and bay leaves until fragrant.
3. Once the aroma has been released, pour in the soy sauce and sugar mixture. Add the salt and stir. Adjust the taste to your liking. Make sure the heat stays low to avoid burning the mixture.
4. Once the sauce is evenly mixed, add the diced tempeh and stir continuously until the tempeh is coated with the sauce and the mixture has thickened. Continue cooking until the sauce is reduced and the tempeh becomes crispy.
