Tempe Crispy: A Flavorful Crunchy Delight ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Thinly sliced tempeh (papan tempe) 1 block (about 200g)
Garlic 1 clove
Fresh turmeric (kunir) 1 small piece
Rice flour (tepung beras) 100 g
Tapioca flour (tepung tapioka) 50 g
Salt (garam) To taste
Royco seasoning To taste
Ground black pepper (merica bubuk) 1 tsp
Ground coriander (ketumbar bubuk) 1 tsp
Water As needed
Vegetable oil for frying Enough for deep frying
Lime leaves, thinly sliced (daun jeruk) A few leaves, sliced

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the batter: In a large mixing bowl, combine all the spices and flours โ€” garlic, turmeric, rice flour, tapioca flour, salt, Royco seasoning, ground black pepper, and ground coriander. Add enough water to form a thick batter. It should be thick enough to coat the tempeh slices without being too runny.

  2. Divide the mixture: Split the batter into two parts. In the first portion, keep it thick and in the second, add a little more water to make it slightly more runny.

  3. Fry the tempeh: Heat a generous amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Take the thick batter and dip each slice of tempeh into it, ensuring they are fully coated. Carefully place them in the hot oil, one by one, so they don’t stick together.

  4. Crisp and finish: As the tempeh slices fry and begin to turn golden brown, drizzle some of the runny batter (the thinner mixture) over the tempeh to create a crispy, crunchy texture. Let the tempeh fry until golden and crisp on both sides.

  5. Drain and serve: Once golden brown and crispy, remove the tempeh from the oil and drain any excess oil on paper towels. Garnish with thin slices of lime leaves for a fragrant, aromatic touch.

  6. Serve and enjoy: Serve your Tempe Crispy hot with a spicy dipping sauce or as a side dish to your favorite meals. The crunchiness and flavor of this tempeh will surely have everyone asking for more!

Tips:

  • Make sure the oil is hot enough before adding the tempeh slices to get that perfect crispy texture.
  • If you want extra flavor, try adding a dash of chili powder or a pinch of sugar to the batter!

Enjoy the crispy goodness! ๐Ÿ˜‹๐Ÿ˜‹
