Prekedel Tempe Yahuud Recipe

Ingredients

Ingredient Quantity
Large tempe 1/2 block
Kencur 4 cm
Garlic 1 clove
Shallots 2 cloves
Ginger 2 cm
Candlenuts 2 pieces
Salt To taste
Seasoning To taste (e.g., Royco)
Egg 1 large
Cooking oil For frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tempe: Thinly slice the tempe into bite-sized pieces. Heat oil in a frying pan and fry the tempe until golden and cooked through. Once done, remove and drain on paper towels to absorb excess oil.

  2. Make the Spice Paste: In a food processor or mortar, blend the kencur, garlic, shallots, ginger, and candlenuts into a smooth paste. Set aside.

  3. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, mash the fried tempe and mix it with the spice paste. Adjust the seasoning with salt and other spices to taste.

  4. Shape the Mixture: Using a lightly oiled piece of plastic wrap, shape the tempe mixture into patties or your preferred form.

  5. Prepare for Frying: In a separate bowl, crack the egg and add a pinch of Royco seasoning. Whisk together until well combined. Dip each shaped tempe patty into the egg mixture, ensuring an even coating.

  6. Fry the Patties: Heat oil again in the frying pan and fry the patties until they are golden brown and crispy on both sides. Remove and drain on paper towels.

  7. Serve and Enjoy: Plate the delicious Prekedel Tempe Yahuud and enjoy! Perfect as a snack or a side dish.

Happy cooking! 😊
