Crispy Fried Tilapia with Sweet and Sour Sauce
Ingredients:
For the Tilapia:
- 700 grams of freshwater tilapia, filleted
- For the Batter Dip:
- 1 large egg
- 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
- Enough water to make a smooth batter
- A pinch of seasoning
- A pinch of ground black pepper
- For the Dry Coating:
- SAJIKU All-Purpose Seasoned Flour
For the Sweet and Sour Sauce:
- 1 medium carrot, diced
- 7 green beans, cut into small pieces
- 2 scallions, thinly sliced
- 1/4 large onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small shallot, minced
- 1 teaspoon oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon all-purpose flour
- A pinch of ground black pepper
- A pinch of seasoning
- 200 ml water
- 1 tablespoon tomato sauce
Instructions:
-
Prepare the Tilapia:
- Rinse the tilapia fillets thoroughly and cut them into pieces as desired. Place them in a bowl and season with salt and lime juice. Let them marinate for 10 minutes.
-
Prepare the Coating:
- In one bowl, prepare the dry coating by placing SAJIKU All-Purpose Seasoned Flour. In another bowl, mix together the batter dip ingredients: egg, all-purpose flour, enough water to achieve a smooth consistency, seasoning, and ground black pepper.
-
Coat the Tilapia:
- Dip each piece of marinated tilapia into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, then coat it with the seasoned flour. Ensure each piece is evenly coated.
-
Fry the Tilapia:
- Heat a generous amount of oil in a pan over medium heat. Fry the coated tilapia pieces in batches until they turn golden brown and crispy. Remove them from the oil and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining pieces.
-
Prepare the Sweet and Sour Sauce:
- In a separate pan, sauté the onion, garlic, and shallot until they become aromatic and golden. Add the oyster sauce, 200 ml of water, tomato sauce, seasoning, and ground black pepper. Stir well and bring to a simmer.
-
Add Vegetables:
- Add the diced carrot to the sauce and cook for about 5 minutes. Then, add the green beans and scallions. Continue to cook until the vegetables are tender and the sauce has thickened. If the sauce is too thick, you can add more water to achieve your desired consistency.
-
Serve:
- Once the sauce is ready, pour it over the crispy tilapia or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce. Enjoy this delightful dish hot and fresh!
This crispy fried tilapia with a tangy sweet and sour sauce is perfect for a family meal or special occasion, combining crispy textures with vibrant flavors.
